Lauren Antion '11 Named NESCAC, ECAC Player of the Week

HADLEY, Mass. - Former Marlborough Mustang, Lauren Antion ’15 was named the NESCAC women’s volleyball Co-Player of the Week and the ECAC Player of the Week after helping Amherst close out the regular season with three-consecutive victories en route to the No. 5 seed in the upcoming conference championship.
Coming off a loss to Wellesley at the 2011 Hall of Fame Invitational, Antion helped get the Jeffs back on track during a mid-week non-conference matchup with local rival Smith, hitting a career-high .773 by registering 17 kills with no errors on 22 swings in a sweep of the Pioneers.
She then helped Amherst erase a 2-0 deficit against archrival Williams hitting .316 with a career-best 18 spikes and eight blocks before closing out the regular season with a .345 attack rate and 13 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Hamilton.
Tallying 48 kills, 13 blocks, seven digs and three service aces in the Jeffs’ three wins, Antion recorded a .438 swing rate, averaging 4.36 kills and 1.18 blocks per set. She currently ranks second on the team in kills per frame and sixth in the NESCAC in attack percentage.
